DNS – Dynamic Neuromuscular Stabilization

DNS (Dynamic Neuromuscular Stabilization) is a method that enables the nervous system to improve or establish better posture and body position, higher-quality and more purposeful movement, and a more correct gait. Because of these aims and its specific approach, DNS is recommended not only for people with particular deficits and impairments, but also for healthy people, athletes and recreational exercisers, children, adults and people who are physically inactive. This kind of motor control is established very early, during the first few months of life. DNS helps improve movement patterns during growth and development, as well as in adulthood. Dynamic Neuromuscular Stabilization stimulates the neurodevelopmental aspect of motor control in order to improve musculoskeletal dysfunction and the associated complaints and syndromes, or to restore normal function.

The original concept comes from the Prague School of Rehabilitation and Manual Medicine, whose founders were the physicians Vojta, Lewit, Janda and Véle, specialists in physiatry and neurology. Today it is used all over the world, including at our polyclinic. The aim of DNS is to optimise the stabilisation strategy from the point of view of joint function. Rebalancing posture and upright stance, together with optimal coordination and muscular stabilisation of the cervical, thoracic and lumbar segments and of the shoulder and pelvic girdles, using DNS protocols carried out by our specialist doctors and therapists, improves a range of complaints and functional deficits of the nervous and musculoskeletal systems. By controlling the diaphragm, DNS corrects poor breathing patterns, which can affect physical and mental health.

Dynamic Neuromuscular Stabilization improves poor movement patterns that arise during everyday activities and in sustained postures such as prolonged sitting, reducing pain and improving basic bodily functions. In children, it helps establish better patterns of crawling, squatting, transfers and rotation, supporting the child's optimal neurological development. Drawing on his experience and knowledge, and with the help of excellent physiotherapists and kinesiologists, Dr Mijić has been using this method for many years.
