Regional disorders in physiatry
If you feel pain in several joints or muscles – for example pain in the whole arm or leg, or pain spreading from the neck to the shoulder – this is a regional disorder, which can have many causes. Physiatric conditions that, in addition to a local disorder, also spread or are referred to another area of the body or another organ system are called regional disorders.
Spinal disorders are one of them. Besides the bony part and the discs, they also affect the nerves – the nerve roots, which we call radices – and these cause symptoms in the areas they supply, further away from where the problem started.
Hip pain is often linked with knee pain. There are many such examples, so you need an examination by a doctor who will recommend further tests and treatment for such conditions.
