Arthritis that affects the spine as well as the peripheral joints is called spondyloarthritis (seronegative spondyloarthropathies and seronegative spondyloarthritis). Seronegative spondyloarthritis and spondyloarthropathies include many entities: ankylosing spondylitis / Bechterew's disease (spondylitis ankylosans), psoriatic arthritis (arthritis psoriatica) and SAPHO syndrome. There are also arthritides associated with inflammatory bowel diseases – ulcerative colitis (colitis ulcerosa) and Crohn's disease (morbus Crohn) – and reactive arthritis (arthritis reactiva). These diseases share certain characteristics, namely involvement of specific sites such as the sacroiliac joints, nails, eyes and entheses, and dactylitis. These groups of diseases are often associated with infections and HLA-B27, as well as with some other loci.
