Ultrazvuk gleznja i potkoljenice 1

Ankle and lower leg ultrasound

Diagnostic ultrasound of the ankle and lower leg allows quick and accurate diagnosis of the structures of the lower leg and ankle, which are very often affected by injuries as well as by inflammatory-degenerative diseases. Because the foot, ankle and lower leg are connected, an extended ultrasound examination is often needed. Diagnostic ultrasound shows the soft structures of the lower leg and knee well, such as muscles, tendons and ligaments, as well as effusions around tendons and inside joints.

By analysing the structures in the front, inner, outer and back segments, we can detect a large proportion of pathological changes.

Diagnostic ultrasound gains its value together with a clinical examination by a doctor who deals with musculoskeletal disorders. Everything diagnostic ultrasound finds must be put in the context of other tests (X-ray, MRI, CT, scintigraphy and laboratory tests), because only then can the doctor take appropriate action – from immobilisation, fixation and taping to injections, aspiration, pain blocks, surgery and other invasive methods, all with appropriate use of medication.
