Low back pain has many causes, covering almost the whole of medical pathology, but in most cases it will respond well to conservative measures within a short time. These measures include short-term rest and moderate, or tolerable, activity. As for medicines, in these cases topical or systemic analgesics and opioids are used, along with warm compresses, while muscle relaxants and glucocorticoids are prescribed only when indicated. If there is no improvement within a short time, see your doctor.
A serious disease is suggested if, besides the pain, you also notice any of these signs:
- night pain that disturbs sleep
- a raised temperature
- infection
- leg pain, especially if accompanied by loss of reflexes
- bowel and bladder disturbances
- significant trauma
- minor trauma in osteoporosis
- suspected cancer
- weight loss
- low back pain in children
From the above, it is clear that you need to be examined by a specialist doctor.
