Dr Ivan Novak

Dr Ivan Novak, MD, is a specialty trainee in physical medicine and rehabilitation. He completed the postgraduate programme in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation at the University of Zagreb School of Medicine. In his clinical and professional work he focuses in particular on the diagnosis, treatment and rehabilitation of patients with musculoskeletal diseases and injuries.

His particular professional interests include diagnostic ultrasound of the musculoskeletal system and abdomen, rheumatology, capillaroscopy and microcirculation, vertebrology, osteoporosis, sports physiatry, neurorehabilitation, injection techniques, and obesity and its effect on functional and musculoskeletal health.

He continually pursues professional development in Croatia and abroad. His international training includes diagnostic ultrasound in Finland; physical and rehabilitation medicine and diagnostic ultrasound in Milan, Italy; physical and rehabilitation medicine in Leeds, United Kingdom; capillaroscopy in Vienna, Austria; modern rheumatological diagnostics and laboratory and immunological methods in rheumatology in Valencia, Spain; and intra-articular and other injection techniques for treating musculoskeletal diseases at the International Symposium on Intra-Articular Treatment (ISIAT) in Athens, Greece. In the field of obesity and modern approaches to its treatment, he trained at Harvard Medical School in the United States.

He regularly takes part in Croatian and international professional meetings, courses and workshops, and in professional and educational activities in physical and rehabilitation medicine. He takes a particular interest in the use of modern diagnostic and therapeutic methods and in linking them with clinical findings in the diagnosis, treatment and rehabilitation of patients.

He is a member of the Croatian Medical Chamber, the Croatian Medical Association, the Croatian Society for Physical and Rehabilitation Medicine, the Croatian Society for Rheumatology and the Croatian Vertebrological Society. Internationally, he is a member of the International Society of Physical and Rehabilitation Medicine (ISPRM).
